Rae presents King Charles III Coronation Medal to Matthew Peck

[Stratford, ON] – Matthew Rae, MPP for Perth-Wellington had the honour of presenting the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal to Sergeant Matthew Peck, a respected Police Officer with the City of Stratford for 22 years, on the afternoon of March 26, 2025. The presentation took place at the Perth-Wellington Constituency Office surrounded by Matthew’s family.

“Matthew has proven himself to be an integral part of the Stratford Police Force and a caring and active member of the community,” MPP Rae said. “As an active member of local minor sports associations and in his professional capacity, a major proponent for days of remembrance throughout the community, Matthew has clearly made significant contributions to the well-being of our community. It is an honour to recognize his contributions to Ontario and Canada with a King Charles III Coronation Medal.”

To be eligible for the King Charles III Coronation Medal one must have made significant contributions to the country, Ontario, region or community, or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada, and was alive on May 6, 2023.

“I am thankful and honored that someone took the time to nominate me,” Peck said. “I am even more grateful to receive it. I have found that as I have moved through the different stages of my life and career, that becoming involved in your community through volunteer work can be such a rewarding experience. It can be good for one’s perspective. It does not always take a lot of time or effort, and even small amounts can make a difference.”

Some of Matthew’s accomplishments include:

  • Volunteering with Stratford Minor Hockey
  • Volunteering with Stratford Minor Soccer
  • Active member of the Board of Directors for the Emily Murphy Centre
  • Spearheaded numerous initiatives leading the way for younger police officers to get involved with the community, for example, Remembrance Day, the Ontario Police Memorial, and the Canadian Police Memorial
  • Serving as a member of the Stratford Police Force for over 22 years
