Rae Announces Recreational Funding in Mount Forest

[Mount Forest, ON] – On Saturday, April 12, Matthew Rae, Member of Provincial Parliament for Perth-Wellington announced that the Government of Ontario is providing the Mt. Forest Legion Branch 134 with $92,600 in funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital grant stream. This funding will help to ensure that the community has safe and ready access to critical programming, activities, and spaces.

“Our legions are pillars in our rural communities,” said MPP Rae. “They are gathering spaces for our veterans, but also places our entire community comes together. This provincial investment will ensure that the Mount Forest Legion can continue to provide accessible programming for years to come.”

This funding allowed the Association to complete critical upgrades to the legion’s HVAC system and washrooms, ensuring the facility remains sustainable and continues to support the community for years to come.

The OTF’s Capital grant stream helps to improve the infrastructure that Ontarians need to thrive. Whether it’s purchasing equipment, building a new space, or completing renovations, retrofits or repairs, these grants support projects that are having a positive impact in our rural communities.

“Whether it’s helping people learn new things, connect with their community, or simply have fun, organizations like the Royal Canadian Legion deliver experiences that make a difference,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “That’s why capital grant support through the Ontario Trillium Foundation is so important. This funding will help ensure the legion remains at the heart of the community of Mount Forest for decades to come.”

Capital grants improve access to programs and technology in community spaces, making it easier for Ontarians to participate in community programs. Funded projects:

  • Improve access to facilities, programs, activities and services
  • Improve existing spaces and support new build projects
  • Make programs and services better and more efficient
