[Listowel, ON] – Yesterday, Matthew Rae, Member of Provincial Parliament for Perth-Wellington announced that the Ontario government provided the Listowel Curling Club with $49,700 in funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital grant stream. This funding will help to ensure that the community has a safe and adequate area to enjoy community events and curl.
“The Listowel Curling Club has been a pillar in the community for over 70 years, offering a place for the community to come together and curl,” said MPP Rae. “The Listowel Curling Club offers a place for curlers of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the game. This provincial investment will help to ensure curling enthusiasts and residents in and around North Perth may use the facility for years to come.”
This funding has provided the Listowel Curling Club with the necessary support to replace outdated equipment and purchase an ice controller system.
“Whether it’s helping people learn new things, connect with their community, or simply have fun, organizations like the Listowel Curling Club deliver experiences that make a difference,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “That’s why grant support through the Ontario Trillium Foundation is so important. This funding will help ensure it remains at the heart of the community for decades to come.”
“This Ontario Trillium Foundation grant not only provided us the opportunity to complete some of our Capital Projects,” said Rhonda Donegan, President of the Listowel Curling Club. “But it sends a strong message of acknowledgement of the importance of affordable recreational opportunity for North Perth and the surrounding area. We appreciate you coming here today to make this official and we certainly hope we can make this into a repeat appearance for future grants.”
Last year, OTF invested more than $110M into 1,044 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment.
