Rae announces Funding for Local Sports Infrastructure

[Milverton, ON] – Today, Matthew Rae, MPP for Perth-Wellington congratulated representatives from the Township of Perth East on the work that’s been done as a result of receiving a $139,800 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant, awarded in 2023, has helped with the replacement of ball diamond fencing, players’ benches and spectator stands at the Lyle Yost Memorial Park in Millbank.

“This investment by our provincial government will ensure young and old can continue to enjoy the Lyle Yost Memorial Park,” said Matthew Rae, MPP for Perth-Wellington. “This funding is a testament to our government’s continued support of our community and recreational infrastructure. Congratulations to the Township of Perth East on receiving this Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital grant.”

This project included the replacement of ball diamond fencing, as well as the replacement of players’ benches and spectator stands at two ball diamonds. The existing fencing and seating was at its end of life and required replacement for the safety of both players and spectators.

“We couldn’t be happier to receive the ongoing support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation who continues to be an important part of contributing to our community’s recreation vision,” said Rhonda Ehgoetz, Mayor of the Township of Perth East. “This grant has allowed needed improvements to be made to this facility. The Lyle Yost Memorial Ball Park is a very well used facility in the Perth East community and can continue to be in a safe manner.”
